Always Neighbors, LLC. Brings Flexible, Meaningful Benefits to Caregivers with Vitable’s ICHRA + VPC

Kyle Taylor, Director of Operations at Always Neighbors, LLC was at a turning point. The fast-growing, family-run home care agency in Columbus had just crossed the 50 full-time equivalent (FTE) threshold, meaning it would soon be required to offer health insurance for the first time. But traditional group plans didn’t make sense for his workforce.
“As a home care agency, our team is mostly caregivers, many of whom already have coverage through a spouse or are working part-time and not in a position to take on expensive plans,” Kyle explained. “We knew we needed to offer something, but we also wanted it to actually benefit the people we serve.”
Kyle began researching alternatives and quickly landed on ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements) as a more flexible option. After comparing a few ICHRA vendors, he landed on Vitable Health, a decision driven by both cost efficiency and the unique value of Vitable’s Virtual Primary Care (VPC).
“We looked at a few ICHRA providers, and the pricing was pretty comparable,” Kyle said. “But what really made Vitable stand out was Vitable’s Primary Care product. Many of our caregivers already have coverage through a spouse and wouldn’t use traditional insurance even if we offered it. So having something we could give them that they’d actually use—that was a big deal. It made the investment feel worthwhile, even for employees who opt out of the ICHRA.”
The VPC benefit quickly became more than just a perk, it became a meaningful way to care for caregivers. With free access to virtual visits, labs, and prescriptions, Kyle saw Vitable Health as a way to bridge the gap for employees who may not be able to afford, or even want, full health insurance.
“At the end of the day, I wish I could pay caregivers even more than we already do,” he said. “Some of them, for personal reasons or because they’re not working a ton of hours, just don’t make a lot of money. So having that VPC part—and knowing they have something they can use even if they don’t have full insurance—felt really good. That felt like a real benefit we could offer.”
Always Neighbors, LLC has experienced consistent growth since 2018, averaging a 30% year-over-year increase. With that in mind, Kyle needed a solution that could scale affordably and not create more administrative burden for his lean internal team.
"What really made Vitable stand out was Vitable’s Primary Care product. It made the investment feel worthwhile, even for employees who opt out of the ICHRA."
“We looked at a few ICHRA providers, and the pricing was pretty comparable upfront, but Vitable stood out because it scales better,” Kyle shared. “As we grow, it’s less expensive to add new employees, and we’re getting more value with the VPC included. That mattered to us, especially knowing we’re growing 30% year over year.”
As a small business with no dedicated HR department, Kyle also needed a hands-on partner who could take work off his plate, rather than adding to it.
“We’re a family-run home care agency, we don’t have a big HR team or extra people to manage benefits,” he explained. “So having Vitable take the lead on onboarding, educating employees, and managing the experience through its own portal has been huge for us. Uploading employee info was quick, and they made the whole process really smooth.”
Today, Always Neighbors, LLC is not only meeting compliance requirements but also offering a competitive, values-aligned benefits package that supports their caregivers and positions the company for continued growth.
